Growing Up

1st John 4:17-5:5

· We Grow in Confidence (1st John 4:17-19)

· “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril or sword? But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:31-39)

· We Grow in Honesty (1 John 4:20-21) · Proverbs 12:22 “Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight.”

· We Display Joyful Obedience (1 John 5:1-3)

· “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete” (John 15:11).

· We Know the Victory Has Already Been Won (1 John 5:4-5) · 1 Corinthians 15:57 “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
